Brief Summary
Next to water, organic molecules are the most abundant components in living systems. They are defined as carbon-based compounds that are normally found in all living organisms. In terms of elements, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus, and sulfur are the major elements in living organisms and are present in relatively equal amounts.
This website will explore the basics of organic compounds, the functional groups, and chemical structures present in organic molecules.
